Melbourne Automobile Emissions Study

چکیده
The University of Denver's remote sensor (FEAT) was used for an on-road motor vehicle carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions survey in Australia during April and May, 1992. Twelve locations in Melbourne area were selected as the survey sites. Most of these locations were the on or off ramp of a freeway or a two way road divided by a solid or painted traffic island. The raw data from Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) Ltd and Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce were 22,800 records. After eliminating those data with %HC less than -1.0 (2,403 records) or greater than 4.0, %CO greater than 17.0, %CO2 less than 1.0 or greater than 16.0 (over 1,000 records), and model year less than or equal to zero, valid data for CO, HC and C02 emissions were obtained on a total of 15,908 vehicles with an average model year of 1983.

Unsuccessful suicide by carbon monoxide: a secondary benefit of emissions control.
Emission systems and devices are required on automobile engines to reduce air pollution problems. Catalytic converters have been used on most 1975 and newer automobiles to reduce hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions to a value that meets the Environmental Protection Agency requirements established for 1975 and 1976. The 1980-1981 Boise, Idaho, study shows that with a functioning catal...
متن کاملAutomobile emissions are statistically gamma distributed.
In the present study, we investigated the statistical distributions of on-road CO and HC emissions by comparing the skewness and kurtosis of the distributions. The results of the analysis based on remote sensing data sets show that on-road automobile CO and HC emission distributions are well represented by a y-distribution. Laboratory dynamometer emissions measurements are similarly distributed...
متن کاملConclusions of the Committee on Human Health: consequences of lead exposure from automobile emissions.
In 1975, Dr. David P. Rall, Chairman of the DHEW Committee to Coordinate Toxicology and Related Programs asked that a committee of departmental experts be formed to examine and report on human health consequences of lead exposure from automobile emissions. The committee submitted its report in July 1976, and the report was circulated to experts and organizations in and outside Government for co...
متن کاملA Simulation-Based Methodology for Analyzing Congestion and Emissions on a Transportation Network
In this paper, a simulation-based methodology is developed to analyze the effects of two transportation control strategies on congestion and automobile emissions. In particular, two types of road pricing implementations are studied: a Cordon Scheme and a Per-Mile Area Link Charging Scheme. The resulting model is then applied to the metropolitan Atlanta interstate highway system. Finally, the re...
